         <description><![CDATA[It was an outstanding 2007 campaign for The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Volleyball program. They went 24-4, didn't lose at home or on the road (all losses were on a neutral court), went a perfect 10-0 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play for the first time in school history, had one of the nation's longest winning streaks in 22 matches and finished as the best serving team in the country. The only disappointment, a tough loss in the MEAC finals to Florida A&M. Head Coach Don Metil thinks he has fixed that however, he made the team even better.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[In a year of much athletic success, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Department of Athletics has much to be proud of in terms of academic success. In two recent separate events, many Hawks were honored for their academic successes in the classroom. UMES recently hosted their annual Scholar's Luncheon where the department recognized those athletes who have had a lot of success academically while the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) recently released its All-Academic Team, featuring 40 student-athletes from UMES.]]></description>

Lady Hawk sophomore Whitney Johnson was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year while junior teammate Christina Estebane' was named to the All-MEAC First Team. Additionally, first year UMES coach Don Metil was named MEAC Coach of the Year and sophomore Caylin Woodward received All-MEAC Second Team honors.]]></description>

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) holds the longest streak in the country thanks to Johnson's help and five times this year she has earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week award. Johnson got the fifth nod today as the Hawks closed out the regular season this past Friday with a 3-1 win over North Carolina Central University (NCCU).]]></description>
