BALTIMORE, MD. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) men's and women's track team brought home some hardware this weekend as both squads took second place at the MEAC Outdoor Championship on Saturday at Morgan State's Hughes Stadium. The Fighting Hawks tallied 138.5 points to claim runner-up honors while the Lady Hawks brought home its second place finish with 119 points. Highlighting the Championship were the performances of freshman Peter Sang and senior Kimani Kirton. Sang won two events, the men's 5000m in 15:27.76 and the 3000m steeplechase in 9:32.08. He set a new MEAC mark in the latter, breaking the record previously set by UMES' own Barnabas Togom (9:33.43) in 2004. Daley also finished sixth in the javelin throw (44.86m or 147'2") while Dwayne Robinson threw 46.30m (151'11") to take fifth in the same event.
